Colombia is significantly impacted by globalization because it has established relationships with countries that demonstrate global interdependence. Colombia “depends heavily on energy and mining exports… Colombia is the world’s fourth largest coal exporter” (CIA World Factbook). Coal is one of the main exports of Colombia and it plays a detrimental role to Colombia’s economy. This example of globalization can be both positive and negative this is because when the economy is stable Colombia can generate revenue through exporting coal but when the economy is not stable this will dramatically affect Colombia’s economy. The U.S. Energy Information Administration claims that “Colombia was the fifth-largest coal exporter in the world in 2011” (EIA). The exports are mainly to Europe and other South American countries and the United States. This has developed an interdependent relationship with the United States and has been extending to other countries like China. Another example of globalization is the illegal exportation of cocaine and other illicit drugs. These drugs make their way to Mexico and the United States. The Cartels that operate these actions make a substantial amount of money. This example of interdependence between countries is a hindrance to the people of Colombia because to this day violence associated with drug dealers is a significant problem which affects men and women in Colombia who experience the violence. It is also a problem because the revenue created goes back to the drug trafficking organizations and not the country. This also affects political relationships because these countries try to limit interactions due to the negative consequences that drug trafficking has had. The last example of globalization is oil exportation in which the United States and Colombia have created an interdependent economic relationship. This is because the United States has become the destination for a lot of Colombia’s oil exports. The United States is not the only country who has formed economic ties with Colombia countries like Panama, China and Spain have also been in relations with Colombia. This can be attributed to the increase in production and the pipelines that have facilitated oil production. This example of globalization is a help for the country because it generates economic growth but when the economy is not stable and oil prices drop this can also affect Colombia negatively. Colombia is a country that has experienced both the negative and positive effects of globalization.

I thought it was very interesting to know that you gave an example of how illegal exportation of drugs. I would have never thought of it as an example but its a good one and it shows how it can affect the relationships between countries and its people. Interesting to find out what Columbia does and how it is with globalization.

Karell,
Great information on globalization of Colombia. I found it interesting as well about your discussion on illegal exports. I have heard from different sources that many times, illegal drug export revenue stays within the "business". Many of these cartels are thought to store the money in crates and direct it back to the exports. That means that illegal drug exportation really has no benefits to the economy (if the information is correct). What you added about violence is also true because we see drug wars occurring all the time. It makes me wonder how long this drug exportation will continue and what measures have to be taken in order to stop it.
It is an important information that helps to know about the econiomia of Colombia and globalization in Colombia is somewhat negative and positive positivo.es process because it helps the economy and development with its oil exports coal and other materials that generate large catidad income to our country. but it is also negative because Colombia relies heavily on relations with other countries for their exports and that exports the need for countries to buy their products for ingrersos to benefit its economy
Colombia is a country with natural resources such as oil and coal, which benefits you in their economy to be exported to difrentes countries of Europe and America, especially the United States which is the country with which it has more contact in trade . Colombia also plays an important role in the world economy being the 4th largest exporter coal, it benefits largely to the country.

I think the test was very interesting because it is showing how globalization is covered by several factors, one of the things that most interested in your essay was like Colombia is growing in terms of international relations and the economy grows travez different cases and it gives me entedender that Colombia is a country that still can be found in development

I found this information very good because it gives us to know that Colombia is the fourth largest coal exporter in the world and also reveals that globalization also brings with still illegal exploitation of cocaine and other illicit drugs. All this is very important because we know what makes Colombia with globalization.

I found a very interesting article since apart from tell us the different effects that globalization is having on Colombia, speaks to us exports to this country it makes with other countries. I had not thought that United States and Colombia had a relationship in terms of exports.
I am struck that speak of the traffic of drugs and violence, because it is something that today looks very often and anywhere in the world.
It is very clear that globalization brings both positive effects such as negative effects to the country, and also is not a one-way phenomenon to me but that affect all countries but in different ways.
It is very interesting because it shows some positive and negative aspects of globalization in Colombia, we know about exports and with whom he has ties Colombia, so we can stay informed

We found this article very interesting because it talks about the reality of our country with regard to the globalization. In the article they explain that Colombia is dependent of many countries. Also they give us three examples of products that colombia exports in which for us, ilegal exportation of addictive sustances is more relevant, because it brings bad consequences in political, economical and social aspects of the countries that export and import this kind of products. According to the text and our daily life, we concluded that the globalization brings more negative effects than positives to Colombia.

Seemed like a very good article about globalization in Colombia that discusses illegal exports, today in day is this seeing much illegal exports of drugs in Colombia, to come out much in the news these comments, exports are mainly to Europe and other countries of South America and United States. This has developed an interdependent relationship with the United States and has expanded to other countries like China every time you are increasing in large cities and this is not favourable to economic globalization. drug dealers is a significant problem that affects men and women who experience violence in Colombia. It is also a problem because created revenue goes back to drug trafficking organizations and not to the country. very good article and is relating it to the today's day

I thought the whole perspective you take to give examples and implications of globalization in Colombia is very well laid out and reveals the negative consequences of globalization when it can work well with a stabilized economy and not focused on different factors such as drug traffic.

It was a good article because it teach us some negatives and positives effects of Globalization. We also learnt some facts about our economy in Colombia, which has some downs and ups. It was interesting to know Colombia is the fourth country with coal exportation even when we export ilegal things too.
The whole World is becoming dependent of richest countries but the reality is they need our resources as we need their capital entering.

I believe that it is a text with very substantial and valuable information that really gives clear and specific points of what is Globalization, how we affect?, its causes, helpful and unfavorable that may be for some countries as it is lucrative for others.
On the other hand Globalization follows other events that generate impact in financial and social, such as the interdependence that not helps or cooperates with the traffic illegal hallucinogenic substance and drug smuggling that do not benefit the country in revenues while that illegal organizations if. To conclude the process of imports from Colombia to other countries is generally satisfactory and lucrative for both the as to other countries that have interdependence as the United States, Panama, China and Spain.

I really thought that the information is important and thanks to this I understood that globalization in Colombia have negative and positive effects, one of the problems that affect more strongly the social situation in Colombia is the unequal distribution of resources wealth of existing welfare the country, as we see in the text coal is one of the main export products of Colombia, this for Colombia can be both positive and negative all depends on how stable the economy of Colombia. Another effect of globalization in Colombia has been the loss of cultural identity, hence it is not strange for example seen in our young little interest in traditional music like cumbia, joropo, the carranga, etc. and identify more with the pop, rock, reggaeton, metal, among others. and researched a lot about globalization in Colombia and found it very important "Another effect of globalization in Colombia has been the loss of cultural identity, hence it is not strange for example seen in our young little interest in traditional music as cumbia, joropo, the carranga, etc. and identify more with the pop, rock, reggaeton, metal, among others.
However, we must not ignore the positive effects that globalization has brought in Colombia, which has manifested itself mainly in three processes:. Economic openness, liberalization of markets and administrative decentralization "

It is true all exposed in this blog, since it is a great reality. The globalization is a process of great help, but it is in a different form in every country. As this one expressed in the blog, the globalization is of great help for Colombia since this has generated and evolved very much the economy, but also this " case of illegal globalization " we see at present in day after day, I do not believe that this is help for the country, rather it is an own benefit and an act that we know that this badly and that actually instead of advance it is a form of setback, therefore I am in conformity with said in this blog and since it has seemed to me to be very important to know all that.

Mentioning the words of the text: “This example of globalization is a help for the country because it generates economic growth but when the economy is not stable and oil prices drop this can also affect Colombia negatively. Colombia is a country that has experienced both the negative and positive effects of globalization.”
Corroborating the above mentioned thing previously, clearly always there will exist negative as positive consequences, and sometimes when it is a question of countries developed always more beneficiaries will be, and that one that not, always it will be in disadvantage, the advance of the technology affects those parts of the economy that still takes the primary sector of the economy as income.

The article helps us to understand our reality in the globalization process. On one hand it has helped through the coal to increase the economy, but this create a interdependence with other countries, specially with EE.UU, it means that Colombian economy it´s stable when there is a permanent exportation of coal, but otherwise if the exportation its not stable, Colombian economy decrease.
Another negative effect of globalization in Colombia are the political relations, because many countries see us as a violent society because of drugs, that are managed for big illegal cartels and it generates that those countries don´t invest in Colombia to make a economic development.

The article shows the role of the Colombian economy and how the stability of it changes with the dynamics and relationships that the country has with other nations.
Colombia is a vast country in raw materials but a little inexperienced in the industrial field , so if Colombia develop technologies to marks its presence in the secondary sector , It would have more control of the national production and national economy would increase too.
It is known that globalization brings many benefits that help some countries to promote their development, but globalization at a point becomes very difficult to keep up. That's when Colombia and its state agents should think about providing complete production and not just give raw materials. In this way this method would contribute to globalization and also Colombia could have more autonomy in its production field.

It's a great article with a very interesting information that helps to reflect about a common reality here in Colombia. Something that makes me sense into reason about this was the part that said "Colombia is a country that has experienced both the negative and positive effects of globalization", and that’s what we need. We need to see beyond the economic benefits, the damage that globalization carries to our ambient because of contamination and extinction of spices.
Moreover, I think that is embarrassing being a well-know country for be one of the largest exporters of drugs, and be seen different for others countries for promote this.

This information was very interesting because it tells us that Colombia is the fourth in the exploitation of carbol and also tells us that apart from this also praise globalization brings with still smuggling some drugs, also shows the positive and negative effects of globalization for Colombia.

Globalization is part of history since every interaction of cultures creates spaces to exchange traditions and in certain way open the door to a globalized society.
